Senior Fellowship.

The Senior Fellowship of Hebron Free Presbyterian Church, Ballymoney, has been meeting twice monthly since  2006, under the leadership of  their Pastor, Rev. David Park.  The members are indebted to Mr Park for his inspiring  expositions of God's Word, and also to Mrs Park and her team of ladies who provide  refreshments, during which the members have the opportunity to socialize with each other, as they enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and some 'tempting goodies."

The Seniors are Missionary minded and seek to further this cause both prayerfully and practically.  They welcome visits from our Missionaries as they return to Ulster on furlough and deputation work.  At each meeting, those present contribute financially, as a result, they have given support to the following causes:  The orphans in Kenya.. The Deborah Houses in Romania.  The work in the Philippines and the orphans of Nepal.  With the help of other Believers, 700 shoe boxes were  sent to the children of Nepal, and  Bibles were provided for the Pastors in Liberia.  To mark the official opening  of the Bible Christian Faith Academy in Kenya, the Seniors donated eight engraved shields, to be awarded annually to each of the ‘house teams.’  Miniature trophies were also provided, to be retained by the winners. The Members gratefully acknowledge the work undertaken by their treasurer  Miss Sadie McAuley who is diligent in performing this duty.

Activities have included a floral art demonstration by Mrs Lorna Hanna, who also gave an opportunity to the group to try out their skills in creating table arrangements, under her supervision.

Margaret Keery gave a talk on Biblical musical instruments and their place in worship.  Instrumental music dates back to the Book of Genesis, and  numerous references are made to it in the Psalms.  It was studied in the Schools of the Prophets, -  this is recorded in the Book of Samuel.  Our present education system evolved from the early Church Schools, which were originally  provided to teach Church Music.

The members saw Margaret's  collection of instruments and had the opportunity to try out:  The harp, psaltry, viol, pipe, and zithers, as well as some 'fun' instruments made mostly from recycled materials.

Mr Park  provides interesting and informative DVD presentations of the work in the various Mission fields. One session each month is  devoted to craft activities, where  the group have opportunity to  try out a variety of skills such as: “Pergamano” (Parchment Craft), “Quilling,”  “Decoupage,”  “Iris Folding” and “Wax Painting.”

They have produced numerous cards and bookmarks, each of which carried a Gospel text. These were sent to Kenya to add to the stock of the B.C.F.C. Bookshop!

This year it was decided to focus on the Children's work in the various Sunday Schools.
Colourful pictures, (mostly animals and birds) are produced, accompanied by Bible texts in Swahili.  These are laminated, and hopefully will be displayed in  Kenyan homes.  It is our prayer that these Gospel messages, in their mother tongue, will speak to the hearts of many needy Kenyan souls, so that they will come to know the Saviour.

Other activities have also been enjoyed by the members, such as their annual outing and Christmas dinner.

The Seniors are grateful for the love and care shown by the Church Family.  They  are too numerous to mention individually, but we must pay special tribute to  Rev. David Park, for enabling the older generation to become involved in this missionary endeavour.  Our Pastor works tirelessly with  old, young and "in betweens"  in encouraging the Church Family to be active in "Doing Something More for God"
